“Riders Up!”: Episode 6 (7-9-2017)–Dennis Lynch & Tony Matos

Fasig-Tipton’s Dennis Lynch and top jockey agent Tony Matos, who has the book for the talented young apprentice rider Evin Roman, were the guests on the sixth installment of “Riders Up!” with Frank Lyons and John Gaver on Sunday, July 9. Dennis Lynch previewed the July 10 Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale at Fasig-Tipton as well as the July Selected Yearling Sale, which will commence at the company’s Newtown Pike facility in Lexington, Kentucky on July 11. The sale has produced the grade one stakes winners Connect, Klimt, and Noble Bird in addition to the graded stakes winners Vyjack, Conquest Enforcer, and Lord Simba.

Matos, who has represented the likes of Angel Cordero, Jr., Laffit Pincay, Jr., Chris Antley, Kent Desormeaux, Corey Nakatani, and Victor Espinoza, gave us some insight into his latest talent, 19-year-old Evin Roman, who became the first apprentice jockey to win a riding title at Santa Anita since 1949.
