Hall of Fame Jockey Pat Day and Juddmonte Farm’s Garrett O’Rourke were the guests on the third installment of “Riders Up!” with Frank Lyons and John Gaver on Sunday, June 18. If you missed the 7:00 A.M. Eastern broadcast, you can listen to the replay HERE.
Day, a winner of 8,803 races lifetime, recalls Wild Again’s gutsy win in the inaugural Breeder’s Cup Classic (G1) at Santa Anita, and which of his fellow riders he feared the most in a stretch duel.
O’Rourke, manager of the powerful Juddmonte Farm operation in the United States, gave us an update on the top-ranked horse in the world, Arrogate, who is targeting a possible return to the races in the TVG San Diego Handicap (G2) at Del Mar on July 22, and gave us a glimpse into the future with some great insight on some promising young horses in the Juddmonte pipeline.
“Riders Up!” with Frank Lyons and John Gaver airs Sunday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00 A.M. Eastern and is available for live streaming on the ESPN Sports Radio 1300 app (for iOS or Android) or by visiting the WLXG ESPN Sports Radio 1300 website.
Frank and I hope to give you fresh insights and perspectives into the many personalities that make up the world of Thoroughbred horse racing. Check us out on Sunday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00 A.M. in Lexington, Kentucky, on 1300 AM, WLXG ESPN Sports Radio, or worldwide by visiting the WLXG ESPN Sports Radio 1300 website.
