Churchill Downs Full-Card Analysis: Saturday, May 20, 2017

The 11-race Preakness Day program at Churchill Downs is highlighted by a pair of graded stakes races–the $100,000 Matron Stakes (G3) for fillies and mares three-years-old and up to be contested at a mile and a sixteenth trip on the main track, and the Louisville Handicap (G3T) for three-year-olds and up to be run over the Matt Winn Turf Course going a mile and a half.

South Florida invader Curlin’s Approval, a two-time graded stakes winner thus far in 2017, is the 8-5 morning line favorite for the Matron (G3) while Danish Dynaformer is the tepid 4-1 choice in the Louisville Handicap (G3T) for trainer Roger Attfield. The son of Dynaformer is coming off a respectable fourth-place finish in the 12-furlong Elkhorn Handicap (G2T) at Keeneland on April 22.

The Green Sheet had four winners–highlighted by Forgive’s ($15.40) game score in the eighth race–on Friday’s nine-race program in Louisville in addition to giving out a pair of trifectas and superfectas. 12 days into the meet, The Sheet is giving out FREE winners at a 23 percent clip with its’ top selection in each race finishing in the money 54 percent of time.

Post time at Churchill Downs for the first of 11 races on the Saturday, May 20th program is 12:45 P.M. Eastern. The card offers a carryover of $24,093 in the 20-cent Single 6 Jackpot and a $5,612 carryover in the $1 Super High 5.
